Part of the Profiles of Flight series published by Pen and Sword books, this volume covers the Vought F4 Corsair carrier and land based fighter.
The Vought Corsair was developed in early 1938 to meet a requirement for the US Navy. It went on to be possibly the best fighte of World War II. 12,571 aircraft were built, and accounted for 2,140 enemy aircraft for the loss of only 189 Corsairs.
As with other titles in the `Profiles of Flight` series, this is comprehensively illustrated, with a good range of photographs to complement the the text, which provides a full description of the long career of the Vought Corsair.
The final section of the book provides 18 pages of fine colour drawings by Dave Windle, the quality of which is recognised by aircraft enthusiasts around the world. These show various marks of the Corsair in liverys of both US and international operators.
`Profiles of Flight - Vought F4 Corsair` is a slim volume, which will disappoint those looking for a more verbose reference work. But for those looking foir a concise and well illustrated volume on this aircraft, it will be well received.
